This makes it the most expensive masterpiece of Russian art to date. Previously it has been kept at the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam for about 50 years and also exhibited in some European Museums on several occasions. In this work we can read the visual manifesto of the artist, who also writes a text on the philosophy of Suprematism. Malevic wants to create "a pure living art" in this work.
